L&K Spine, Inc., based in Texas, a leading innovator in spinal implant technologies, today announced the successful completion of the first surgical case utilizing the BluEX-C Expandable Cervical Interbody System. The procedure was performed by Dr. Fidai in a single-level Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) at the C5-C6 level.

The successful implantation marks an important milestone following the recent FDA 510(k) clearance of BluEX-C and represents the beginning of the system’s clinical adoption in the highly competitive anterior cervical market.

BluEX-C is an expandable cervical interbody device designed to provide surgeons with controlled, precision expansion for anterior cervical height restoration while supporting efficient surgical workflows. Developed from proven expandable technology, the system incorporates a low-profile design, proprietary surface technology, and precision instrumentation intended to facilitate reproducible surgical outcomes.

“We are excited to announce the first successful clinical use of BluEX-C and would like to thank Dr. Fidai for his confidence in our technology,” said Alex Kang, Chief Executive Officer of L&K Spine. “This milestone represents a significant achievement for our organization and reflects our commitment to delivering innovative technologies that address the evolving needs of spine surgeons and their patients.”

The procedure involved a single-level ACDF at C5-C6 utilizing BluEX-C’s expandable technology to support intervertebral height restoration and cervical alignment. The case marks the first commercial use of BluEX-C following regulatory clearance and serves as an important step in L&K Spine’s continued expansion of its cervical spine portfolio.

“One of the challenges in cervical fusion procedures is achieving precise disc height restoration while maintaining confidence in implant placement. BluEX-C provided a controlled expansion mechanism that allowed me to make adjustments in situ and achieve the desired construct efficiently. The ability to expand the implant after insertion offers a level of versatility that can be beneficial in addressing patient-specific anatomy.” – Dr. M. Fidai of California Spine

Clinical Benefits of the BluEX-C Expandable Cervical Interbody System include:

• Controlled Parallel Height Expansion
• BluEX Roughened Surface Technology
• Market-Leading Height Profile
• Precision Instrumentation

The addition of BluEX-C further strengthens L&K Spine’s growing portfolio of cervical technologies designed to support reproducible outcomes, surgeon preference, and patient-focused care.
