Stryker completes 1st surgery with Mako Shoulder system in Europe

UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Dublin, Ireland, performed the first procedure using Stryker’s Mako Shoulder robot in Europe, according to a June 26 report from MassDevice.

The robotic-assisted platform is used for reverse shoulder replacement procedures, utilizing 3D planning software, Stryker shoulder implants and Mako SmartRobotics. 

Ruth Delaney, MD, performed the milestone procedure. 

Stryker is planning to make Mako Shoulder available on the Mako 4 system later this year, the report said.
