Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei Builds Orthopedics & Spine Specialty Hospital in Ghana

Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, MD, chief of the scoliosis service at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City and founder and president of the Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine, has opened a 50-bed orthopedic and rehabilitation hospital in Ghana, Africa.

FOCOS Orthopaedic Hospital is fully accredited to offer inpatient and outpatient care and will provide emergency medicine, ambulance services, diagnostics, pharmacy and physiotherapy.

The hospital was made possible by 1,800 donors who contributed more than $10 million and a grant from the Ghanaian government for $1.5 million. Dr. Boachi-Adjei was born in Ghana.
