Dr. David Altchek to Perform Shoulder Surgery on Yankees Pitcher Michael Pineda

David Altchek, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, will perform shoulder surgery on New York Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda, according to an ESPN report.

Mr. Pineda suffered a labrum tear in his right shoulder, and he will undergo an arthroscopic procedure to repair his injury. He is expected to spend 12 months recovering from the procedure and could potentially return to play by May 2013.
