Carmel, N.Y.-based Somers Orthopaedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Group is expanding access to cervical and lumbar disc replacement procedures across the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut.
Dean Perfetti, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in spine surgery, is leading the effort, offering motion-preserving alternatives to spinal fusion for patients with degenerative disc disease who have not found relief through physical therapy, medication or injections, according to a May 19 news release.
Dr. Perfetti sees patients at the group’s offices in Carmel, Mount Kisco and Newburgh, N.Y., as well as Danbury, Conn. He uses the prodisc family of implants from Centinel Spine, which includes multiple implant sizes and options for cervical and lumbar disc replacement procedures.
Disc replacement procedures are designed to preserve natural spinal motion and reduce stress on adjacent spinal levels compared to fusion procedures.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
