Louisville, Ky.-based Norton Children’s and Norton Leatherman Spine partnered to launch Norton Children’s Leatherman Spine, a pediatric specialty practice focused on spinal conditions, according to a May 11 report by The Lane Report

The practice will provide care for conditions including scoliosis and congenital spine deformities at two Louisville locations. Norton Children’s Leatherman Spine combines pediatric orthopedic and spine surgeons specializing in surgical and nonsurgical treatment options.

More than 3,100 children received scoliosis treatment through Norton Leatherman Spine and Norton Children’s last year. Scoliosis affects an estimated 2% to 3% of adolescents, according to the report.

The new practice is intended to streamline access to pediatric spine care for families across the region and is named after Kenton Leatherman, MD, who founded the Children’s Hospital Department of Orthopedics and performed Kentucky’s first scoliosis surgery in the 1950s.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
