Avera on Louise Health Campus in Sioux Falls, S.D. was renamed to Avera Orthopedic Hospital, according to a May 1 news release.

The hospital was renamed after gastroenterology services were moved to a new Avera building. Now the specialty hospital will have orthopedics as the main focus.

“This campus is all about consumer-friendly and accessible health care, in addition to providing for needs in our community that were previously unmet,” Ronald Place, MD, president and CEO of Avera McKennan Hospital & University Health Center, said in the release. “With the addition of Pavilion 2, home to the Avera Digestive Health Center, we’re thrilled to devote more space to the growing specialty of orthopedics.”

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
