Orthopedic surgeon Anthony Levenda, MD, is the first physician in Indiana to complete a procedure with the newest generation of the Misha knee system.
The system is an implantable shock absorber designed to reduce pain associated with osteoarthritis while preserving the natural joint, according to an April 20 news release from Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute.
The Misha implant provides an alternative to a total knee replacement for patients who have not had success with conservative treatments.
Dr. Levenda performed the procedure at Lakeshore Surgicare, an ASC located in Chesterton, Ind., the release said.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
