Scottsdale-based HonorHealth Research Institute became the first facility in Arizona and the second in the U.S. to treat a patient with the PerQdisc lumbar disc implant, according to a March 31 news release shared with Becker’s.
PerQdisc is designed to substitute the leaking jelly cushion material in disc spaces. The outpatient procedure, an alternative to spinal fusion, is less invasive and motion-preserving.
Luis Tumialan, MD, performed the debut case on a middle-aged woman in November as part of HonorHealth’s DISCPAIN1 clinical trial.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
