The recovery period for Tommy John surgery is typically 12-16 months, which will cause Mr. Petit to miss the entirety of the 2026 MLB season.

Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
