American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons names Dr. Antonia Chen as president

The American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons has named Antonia Chen, MD, as its president for the 2026-2027 term.

Dr. Chen, who joined AAHKS in 2016, has held roles on the Finance, International and Women in Arthroplasty committees and currently serves as second vice president. Her work has focused on advancing gender equity in orthopedics and improving outcomes in joint replacement care, according to a March 5 Linkedin post.

 She is a professor and chair of orthopedic surgery at Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center, where she specializes in hip and knee replacements and joint infection management. Prior to joining UT Southwestern in 2024, she served in leadership roles at Boston-based Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.
