The National Institutes of Health awarded nearly $122 million in funding to orthopedic departments at universities and schools of medicine in the U.S. in 2025, according to data from the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research.
The mean funding for orthopedic departments in 2025 was $2.77 million, and the median was $1.79 million.
Two universities received more than $10 million: Duke University and the University of Pennsylvania.
