Intrinsic Therapeutics has introduced the next generation of the Barricaid narrow anchor device, according to a March 4 news release.
The new version of the Barricaid narrow anchor is 6mm, down from 8mm the standard version, making implantation easier by reducing bony removal and nerve root retraction. The design increases the number of high-risk patients who can have the device.
“Barricaid Narrow Anchor shortens the learning curve and ease of access for surgeons adopting annular closure, making the benefits of Barricaid available to more patients at high risk of recurrent disc and disability following a discectomy,” Barricaid founder Greg Lambrecht said in the release.
The narrow anchor launch comes following the American Medical Association’s release of the 2026 CPT Code Set, which includes new CPT code 63032 for bone-anchored annular closure.
