Keith Meister, MD, is set to perform elbow surgery on Pablo López, a pitcher for the Minnesota Twins, according to a Feb. 20 report from espn.com.

Dr. Meister will perform Tommy John elbow surgery to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in Mr. López’s right elbow.

The surgery will cause Mr. López to miss the entirety of the upcoming 2026 MLB season.

This is the second Tommy John surgery for Mr. López after he underwent the procedure in 2014.

Dr. Meister is the director of sports medicine at the Texas Metroplex Institute for Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery in Arlington and is the head team physician for the Texas Rangers, another MLB team.
