Paul Lombardi, MD, performed the first commercial surgical cases in the U.S. using Gyder Surgical’s hip navigation system.

Dr. Lombardi performed the case at the Tri-County Orthopedics’ Joint Replacement Institute outpatient center in Cedar Knolls, N.J., according to a Feb. 22 news release.

The Gyder system offers real-time guidance for accurate acetabular cup placement without relying on CT imaging or needing metallic pins. It is designed to reduce risks of pelvic pain, fracture, bursitis and retained metal fragments.

The Gyder hip system is available in the U.S. and Australia.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
