The Charlottesville-based University of Virginia School of Medicine has appointed Aaron Dumont, MD, as chair of its department of neurosurgery, effective June 1.
Dr. Dumont currently chairs the department of neurosurgery at New Orleans-based Tulane University, where he also serves as director of the Center for Clinical Neurosciences and associate dean for clinical affairs. He previously served on the university’s faculty from 2007 to 2010, according to a Feb. 11 news release.
Board-certified in neurosurgery and neurocritical care, Dr. Dumont also serves on the board of the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He will succeed Jeff Elias, MD, who has led the department on an interim basis since December 2024.
