The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons has awarded more than $260,000 to 14 programs through its 2026 Inspiring Diversity, Equity and Access grant program.

The initiative funds efforts to expand access to orthopaedic education, support pathway and retention programs, and improve musculoskeletal health equity. Since launching in 2022, the program has awarded over $560,000 to nearly 90 organizations, according to a Feb. 11 news release.

Grants were awarded across three of the program’s four tracks, including pathway touchpoints, academic retention and patient advocacy.

Grant recipients include Stanford (Calif.) University, the Perry Initiative and national advocacy groups focused on orthopedic inclusion, such as Pride Orthopaedics and the Robert Gladden Orthopaedic Society.
