HHS Announces Winning App From HHS’ Hearth Health Web Challenge

HHS has announced the winners of HHS’ “One Heart in a Million Hearts Challenge,” part of the Investing in Innovation program.

The winning team won $50,000 for THUMPr. THUMPr is a Web-based application with a simple, immersive interface enabling users to create a personal heart health profile. THUMPr generates recommendations for users paired with actionable steps for improving heart health, based on the Million Hearts ABCs framework.

The second place team won $20,000 for mHealthCoach, which teaches users about cardiovascular health by visually representing positive heart health actions. The application also provides reminders about physical activity, and allows individuals to track weight, diet, cholesterol and smoking habits.

The third place team won $5,000 for Wellframe. The application provides a heart disease risk assessment, social comparisons, preventive care alerts and educational resources.
