Dr. Steven Garfin Named New ISASS President

Steven Garfin, MD, was named president of the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery for 2012 to 2013 during ISASS12 conference.

Dr. Garfin is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult spine. He is chairperson of the department of orthopaedic surgery at UC San Diego. Physicians in San Diego have elected Dr. Garfin as one of San Diego’s Physicians of Exceptional Excellence in orthopedic surgery for eight consecutive years. He received his medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Dr. Garfin completed a fellowship in disorders of the spine at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and a residency in orthopedic surgery at UC San Diego.
