AAOS Backs House Legislation Repealing IPAB

John R. Tongue, MD, president of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, issued a statement on behalf of AAOS applauding the U.S. House of Representatives’ legislation to repeal the Independent Payment Advisory Board.

The letter states:

“Assigning a panel of unelected bureaucrats to make healthcare decisions for our patients is irresponsible and dangerous. It is true that Medicare spending is unsustainable, but Congress should turn to practicing physicians, not political appointees, to shape policies that affect the care of their constituents.”
