A study from New York City-based Hospital for Special Surgery found that its custom AI platform was effective in preparing total joint replacement patients for surgery, according to an Oct. 24 news release.
Researchers with HSS created an AI platform trained on surgeon-developed patient education content and found patients could easily access and understand the chat bot. The AI was created with Aidify to address questions related to total joint replacements.
The study included 40 joint replacement patients, and 32 of them used the chatbot. Of those 32, 85% said they understood the AI’s responses to their questions, and 75% said it helped them feel prepared for surgery. More than 80% of patients said they would recommend it to others.
