Solenic Medical’s alternating magnetic field technology was successfully used for orthopedics following the FDA’s compassionate use authorization, according to an Oct. 21 news release.
The noninvasive technology, designed to treat orthopedic implant infections, was used as an adjunct to surgery for a patient with a serious medical condition involving a prosthetic joint infection. There haven’t been any device-related adverse events reported.
FDA compassionate authorization allows patients with a serious or immediately life-threatening condition to access a device. Solenic’s technology is an investigational device.
