Dr. Joel Matta retires after 45-year career

Joel Matta, MD, a hip surgeon and founder of the Anterior Hip Foundation, has retired after a career of 45 years. 

Dr. Matta retired from his surgical career July 31 and his clinical practice Sept. 30, according to an Oct. 2 news release from The Steadman Clinic. 

He began his career as a faculty member at the University of Southern California before moving to Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles in 1990. He joined Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, Calif., in 2006. Since 2017, Dr. Matta has been part of the orthopedic staff at The Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo.
