Pediatric spine surgeons Kent Walker, DO, and Richard McCarthy, MD, debuted OrthoPediatrics’ VerteGlide spinal growth guidance system in the U.S., according to a Sept. 10 news release.

VerteGlide is a scoliosis deformity correction system for early onset scoliosis patients. It is designed with a sliding screw construct so patients can grow at their own natural pace, according to OrthoPediatrics’ website.

“The first procedures with VerteGlide were a great success,” the surgeons said in the release. “For these patients, there is a very limited set of options, and this breakthrough growth guidance system offers a solution for a significant unmet clinical need. This technology will greatly benefit the first patients and many other kids in the future. OrthoPediatrics should feel very proud of the work put into creating this device for the benefit of children.”
