UAMS adds spine, orthopedic physicians

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock added spine surgeon Mark Ferger, MD, PhD, and sports medicine physician Hamilton Newhart, MD.

Dr. Ferger has more than 35 peer-reviewed publications and is a manuscript reviewer for various journals, according to a Sept. 8 news release. He earned his medical degree at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond and completed his residency at Washington University in St. Louis.

Dr. Newhart earned his medical degree from UAMS and completed his residency the Baptist Health/UAMS Family Medicine program in North Little Rock. During his fellowship at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, he worked with professional teams including the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Pistons.
