The military’s defense medical epidemiological database was used to identify all service members diagnosed with cervical radiculopathy between 2000 and 2009.
Key findings include:
• Those age 40 years and above were found to have the greatest risk of cervical radiculopathy;
• After age, female sex and Caucasian ethnicity along with senior military status and Army or Air Force service are influencing risks to varying degrees
• Between 2000 and 2009, cervical radiculopathy was diagnosed at an incidence of 1.79 per 1000 person-years in a population of 24,742 individuals.
