ValleyOrtho adds BEAR implant

ValleyOrtho, part of Valley View, has added the Bridge-Enhanced ACL Restoration procedure, according to a June 30 report from The Aspen Times

Tomas Pevny, MD, an orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine physician, at Valley View, is helping integrate the BEAR implant at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and the Valley View Surgery Center in Basalt, Colo.

The implant allows for the body’s natural ligament to regrow, using a collagen-based scaffold instead of a graft or simple structure repair. The procedure also requires a smaller incision and less time in the operating room compared to a traditional ACL repair.

The FDA initially approved the BEAR implant in 2020 and expanded its clearances in March.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
