Dr. Allan Levi named University of Miami’s endowed chair in neurological surgery

Spinal neurosurgeon Allan Levi, MD, PhD, was named as the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine’s Mary M. and Sash A. Spencer Endowed Chair in Neurological Surgery, according to a June 23 news release.

Dr. Levi was recognized for his work in cellular transplantation for nerve injuries and his leadership in treating spinal and peripheral nerve disorders. He earned his PhD at the University of Miami and returned in 1997 after his training at the University of Toronto in Canada and the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix.

He performs about 450 cases yearly and has included technologies including minimally invasive spine surgery and complex spine instrumentation.
