Kingsley Chin, MD, entered a plea agreement May 15 ahead of the remaining kickback charges in his trial scheduled for May 2025, according to court documents filed with the U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts.
Under the agreement, Dr. Chin pleaded guilty to one count of making false statements. Parties involved agree on the lowest sentencing recommendation of 0 to 8 months, 12 months of supervised release and a mandatory special assessment of $100 to be determined in August 2025.
The plea agreement is related to violations of 18 U.S.C. 1001(a)(2).
In January 2025, the federal government dismissed against Spinefrontier Inc. all criminal charges that violated Anti-Kickback Statute, 42 U.S.C. § 1320a-7b(b)(2). This followed the dismissal of Money laundering charges were also dismissed in July 2024, and a complete resolution of a related civil case against all defendants in 2023.
