Springfield, Mass.-based Mercy Medical Center has added Relievant Medsystems’ Intracept spine procedure, according to an April 30 report from MassLive.
Intracept is a minimally invasive procedure for chronic vertebrogenic low back pain that has been used on more than 15,000 patients. It is designed to help decrease patient reliances on opioids and other pain medications.
John Pantuosco, DO, a specialist at Pioneer Spine and Sports Physicians in West Springfield, Mass., has been performing the procedure at his sports medicine clinic for a year and a half, and will now also serve patients at Mercy.
Mercy will be the only hospital in the region to offer the procedure, according to the report.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
