Dallas-based spine surgeon Michael Rimlawi, DO, has launched a scholarship program for undergraduate and graduate students interested in going into medicine.

Dr. Rimlawi works as a minimally invasive spine surgeon at his own private practice. Scholarship recipients will be selected by the physician by means of an essay contest, according to an April 1 news release. Students will each receive $1,000 toward their medical education.

Dr. Rimlawi was the first surgeon in the U.S. to perform a minimally invasive XLIF procedure using Globus Medical’s technology. He has also patented three medical devices for spine surgery.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery. Apply for complimentary registration now.
