Here are eight statistics on pain management case revenue and gross charges by number of operating rooms from VMG Health’s Multi-Specialty ASC Intellimarker 2011. The general trend is that the more operating rooms a center has, the larger the gross charges and net revenue per case.

Gross charges per case
Gross charges were highest in surgery centers with four or more operating rooms. The gross charges were similar for centers with one to two and two to three operating rooms.

All: $4,103
1-2 ORs: $3,977
2-3 ORs: $3,944
4 or more ORs: $4,902

Net revenue per case
Like gross charges, net revenue per case was highest in centers with four or more operating rooms. The net revenue per case only varied by $40 between centers with one to two operating rooms and centers with two to three operating rooms.
