Study Examines Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy as an Inherited Predisposition

Researchers recently combined the Utah Population Database health and geneologic data for 2 million Utah residents to identify 486 patients with cervical spondylotic myelopathy, according to a study published in Spine.

The researchers tested their hypothesis of excessive familial clustering using the Genealogical Index Familiarity and related risks in relatives. The analysis found significant excess relatedness for the disease and related risks for the disease were elevated in first- and third-degree relatives.
