Dr. Polly received a cautionary letter after the school found he failed to report $1 million in fees from a consulting relationship with Medtronic. The committee didn’t find evidence of fraud or misrepresentation, according to the report.
The committee began its investigation after receiving a letter of concern from U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) about appropriate disclosures for surgeons with financial ties to Medtronic who also authored journal articles about the company’s products.
Dr. Polly ended his financial relationship with Medtronic in 2009.
