Presidents of more than 60 national orthopedic societies gathered for the meeting to build a China-centered platform for international cooperation. Efforts were made to provide a model for reducing medical costs and coping with the financial crises for medical providers in developing and developed countries.
At the meeting, the IPF adopted and released a Beijing Declaration calling for:
• Cooperation among professionals, industries and patient organizations
• Advocacy appealing to the government to increase funding
• Research to emphasize translational and interdisciplinary research with clinical application
• Highest patient care possible with an emphasis on quality assurance, patient safety and medical ethics
