The two companies initially partnered in 2022 for a development and license agreement for SMAIO’s surgical planning products and commercialization in the U.S. In 2023, NuVasive was acquired by Globus Medical.

With the agreement terminated neither company will receive compensation, and sales restrictions are lifted.

Independent of the split, SMAIO plans to bolster its efforts on U.S. expansion.

At the Becker’s 32nd Annual Meeting: The Business and Operations of ASCs, taking place October 29-31 in Chicago, ASC leaders, surgeons and healthcare executives will explore strategies to drive growth, enhance operational performance, navigate reimbursement challenges and prepare for the future of ambulatory surgery.
