The milestone surgery was completed using Augmedics’ Xvision system at HCA Reston Hospital Center. Christopher Good, MD; Ehsan Jazini, MD; Colin Haines, MD; William Kemp, MD; and Thomas Schuler, MD, are all trained on the system.
VSI has used Xvision since its FDA approval in 2019, and Dr. Good completed the first AR spine surgery in the Washington, D.C. region. Dr. Jazini also performed the first AR hybrid spine surgery and AR-assisted laminectomy.
Xvision uses a headset and lets surgeons visualize a patient’s 3D spinal anatomy in real-time during procedures.
At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
