The surgery is to fix Mr. Cobb’s labrum and ongoing impingement issues on his left hip, according to an Oct. 31 report from mlb.com.

The recovery time is expected to be six months, forcing Mr. Cobb to miss the beginning of the 2024 MLB season.

Mr. Cobb received multiple treatment therapies but opted for surgery after getting a second opinion from Dr. Philippon.

Dr. Philippon is an orthopedic hip surgeon and a managing partner at the Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colo. He has provided successful treatment to more than 1,000 professional and Olympic athletes throughout his career.
