He is vice chairman of the NCH Department of Neurosciences and is charged with leading its Spine and Pain Center. In addition, he is chief of spine surgery for NNI at NCH and serves as surgeon-in-chief for Intent Medical Group, also in Arlington Heights.
Dr. Nockels brings 30 years of experience in spinal disorders to his role and has performed over 10,000 surgeries. His research on spinal cord regeneration has resulted in 70 publications and over 150 presentations. He joins NNI at NCH from the neurosurgery department at Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Medical Center, where he also held an appointment in the orthopedic surgery department. There, he served as a professor as well as vice chair and complex spinal surgery fellowship director.
