Dr. Tal Davidson joins Augmedics as research and development leader

Augmedics named Tal Davidson, MD, as vice president of research and development, the medtech company said Oct. 3.

Dr. Davidson comes to Augmedics from Medtronic, where he was an artificial intelligence research director and site lead for the company’s Visionsense, according to a news release. His appointment follows Augmedics’ recent acquisition of Surgalign’s digital health assets.

“The future of spine navigation exists at the intersection of best-in-class advanced visualization and decision support,” Augmedics President and CEO Kevin Hykes said in the release. “Tal’s multidisciplinary leadership in intraoperative imaging & artificial intelligence is a tremendous asset as we build out the next generation of the xvision platform and continue our mission to deliver improved surgical outcomes for surgeons and their patients.”
