Robert Watkins, MD, operated on Oakland Athletics pitcher Drew Rucinski, the MLB said Aug. 8.

Mr. Rucinski had a spinal decompression and L5 to S1 spinal fusion, according to a news release.

Mr. Rucinski will be out for the remainder of the season.
