EMR Training a Source of Conflict for Illinois’ Memorial Health System, Physician

Steven Kottemann, MD, a physician at an affiliate of Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health System, says he was placed on leave due to inadequate training for electronic medical records, according to a State Journal-Register report.

However, Memorial CMO Rajesh Govindaiah, MD, said Memorial provided Dr. Kottemann with additional training and scribes to help him use the EMR and the paid leave was a result of broader concerns about his performance.
