University Hospitals opens sports medicine institute as part of $236M expansion

Cleveland-based University Hospitals has cut the ribbon on its Ahuja Medical Center’s UH Drusinsky Sports Medicine Institute, part of a $236 million expansion in Beachwood, Ohio, according to a July 4 report from cleveland.com.

The sports medicine institute measures 76,200 square feet and has six rehabilitation rooms, 10 treatment stations, 16 sports clinic rooms and a football training field. 

The sports institute will provide full physician coverage for the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters and the Cleveland Ballet. 

The Ahuja expansion increases operating room capacity by 80 percent, adding eight new operating rooms and giving the hospital a total of 18.
