Over 25% of orthopedic surgeons have $5M+ net worth: Report

Around 28 percent of orthopedic surgeons have a net worth of over $5 million, the second highest percent of any specialty, just behind plastic surgeons, according to data from Medscape’s 2023 “Physician Wealth and Debt Report.”

Additionally, only 13 percent of orthopedic surgeons have a net worth of under $500,000, the lowest of any physician specialty. 

Orthopedic surgeons are also second most likely to have a home over 5,000 square feet behind plastic surgeons, with 25 percent of orthopedic surgeons owning a home that size. 

Only about 15 percent of orthopedic surgeons are still paying off student loans.
