1. Two former Chattanooga, Tenn.-based Erlanger Health System orthopedic surgeons filed a whistleblower suit against the health system for Medicaid fraud. 

2. Former Johnson & Johnson sales representative Aleksej Gusakovs filed a whistleblower suit alleging more than $100,000 in kickbacks to a Boston Medical Center spine surgeon. 

3. A medical device sales representative brought a whistleblower suit against Hanna “Johnny” Mitias, MD, owner of New Albany, Miss.-based Mitias Orthopaedics, for allegedly submitting false claims to Medicare and Medicaid. 

4. Former Walla Walla, Wash.-based Providence St. Mary’s neurosurgery director filed a whistleblower suit against the system alleging that it defrauded federal healthcare programs. 

5. Boston-based Massachusetts General Hospital paid $14.6 million to settle a whistleblower lawsuit that alleged it violated Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
