3 Geisinger updates in 6 weeks

Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System provides care for over 3 million patients annually. Here are three orthopedic updates from the system since Feb. 21:

1. Geisinger scrapped plans for a $180 million orthopedic center that was deemed its “largest facilities investment for the year.” 

2. Edward DelSole, MD, performed the first lumbar spinal fusion surgery with a lifetime guarantee at Geisinger’s Community Medical Center. 

3. Geisinger Healthplex State College in Port Matilda, Pa., began performing same-day joint replacements.
