Surgeons are being asked to define how and when costly procedures can be appropriately performed without breaking healthcare’s bank. AAOS initiated OQI to foster communication and collaboration with other clinicians and stakeholders experienced with quality initiatives, according to the report.
Attendees at OQI included Director of the Agency for Healthcare Research Carolyn Clancy, MD, Aetna’s National Medical Director Randall Krakauer, MD, and the CMO and Officer of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation in the Department of Health and Human Services Patrick Conway, MD.
