Dr. Jenkins pleaded guilty to charges including illegal distribution; dispensing; prescribing controlled dangerous substances within 2,000 feet of a public park, conspiracy to make false claims under the Oklahoma Medicaid program, illegally practicing medicine without a license and maintaiing a place where controlled substances are kept. He was charged with 29 felony counts and one misdemeanor in 2016.
Prosecutors say between January 2010 and February 2015, Dr. Jenkins prescribed larger volumes of opioids and that he saw 85 to 90 patients daily. Authorities said Dr. Jenkins also stole the identity of another physician to make prescriptions.
Dr. Jenkins will recieve a 20-year suspended sentence and will have to pay more than $180,000. He also agreed to surrender his medical license.
