1. Advanced Orthopedics and Sports Medicine Institute (Freehold, N.J.). This practice has seven locations across New Jersey. In November 2022, Michael Greller, MD, and Garret Sobol, MD, two of this practice’s sports medicine specialists, were the first in Monmouth County to complete an ACL tear procedure using the BEAR implant.
2. Excelsior Orthopedics (Orchard Park, N.Y.). This network of eight orthopedic clinics across New York employs more than 100 orthopedic specialists. Peter Gambacorta, MD, completed the first BEAR implant procedure in Buffalo, N.Y., Jan. 24.
3. Orthopedic Institute (Sioux Falls, S.D.). This practice has been in operation for more than 50 years and operates locations across South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Keith Baumgarten, MD, a surgeon at the group’s Sioux Falls, S.D.-based practice, became the first surgeon in the state to perform a procedure using BEAR technology in November 2022.
4. Multnomah Orthopedic Clinic (Portland, Ore.). This practice specializes in minimally invasive surgery, robotics-assisted joint replacement and sports medicine. Nancy Yen Shipley, MD, debuted the BEAR in the Portland region in June 2022.
5. OrthoMiami (Miami). This orthopedic practice provides services including surgery, sports medicine and physical therapy. Cesar Ceballos, MD, the practice’s founder, performed Miami’s first BEAR procedure on a 19-year-old patient in August.
