The first procedure was completed by surgeons Michael Greller, MD, and Garret Sobol, MD, who specialize in sports medicine.

The BEAR implant allows physicians to use a patient’s own blood to repair a torn ACL, making it the first medical advancement that allows a body to heal its own ACL.

The implant is often associated with less blood loss, faster recovery times and higher patient satisfaction, according to a Feb. 17 press release.

At the Becker's 23rd Annual Spine, Orthopedic and Pain Management-Driven ASC + The Future of Spine Conference, taking place June 11-13 in Chicago, spine surgeons, orthopedic leaders and ASC executives will come together to explore minimally invasive techniques, ASC growth strategies and innovations shaping the future of outpatient spine care.
